John Kane, CRNA, APRNTreatment Philosophy

John believes that everyone has the right "to tell their story," to have their pain recognized, diagnosed, and specifically treated. "It is important for these folks to understand that there are dedicated professionals here at PainCare who will work with them in a variety of ways to obtain relief from their persistent pain and the often terrible impact of their symptoms." John's self-described style with patients is "informal." "Putting up walls between patient and provider is clearly unproductive in this field."

Special Interests

The complexities of chronic pain management, the uniqueness of each patient's problems, and, in particular, the more advanced treatments, such as vertebroplasty and spinal cord stimulation

I have always liked the quote (paraphrased): 'Don't walk in front of me, I may not follow. Don't walk behind me, I may not lead. Just walk beside me and we'll work together.' That's how I like to approach patient care.

Professional Journey

John's career path was greatly influenced by his family. "My father worked for the VA hospital, my mother worked at a dental practice, and my two sisters are nurses." While working in a small hospital in Troy, NY, John received some encouraging career advice from a nurse anesthetist. "The rest is history," and his path took him to Frisbie Hospital as an anesthetist and to NH Technical College as an associate clinical professor. Soon thereafter, he joined the professional staff of PainCare. "I continue to find great satisfaction in educating and helping my patients live more comfortable and functional lives."
