Lil Mandl APRNTreatment Philosophy

"I believe chronic pain is your body's method of signaling that something needs to change in your life. Pain management includes developing the skill to alter the perception, interpretation, and response to pain. This can occur on many planes: physical, emotional, spiritual, and intellectual. I view my role as providing an avenue of relief for my patients - an avenue that is both circular and self-perpetuating, and one that must be fully embraced by the patient. The ultimate goal is independence, restored function, and, of course, decreased pain and suffering."

Special Interests

A holistic multi-disciplinary approach to pain including lifestyle changes (smoking cessation, nutritional counseling and optimal weight maintenance) and physical as well as psychological modalities (yoga, PT, acupuncture, massage, and individualized exercise program). "I have also taken a special interest in maintaining and managing implants such as spinal pumps."

Professional Journey

"My mom is a nurse practitioner and my dad was a scientist (I watched him reconstruct a cat skeleton when I was 4 years old). We hiked mountains and identified trees by their leaves when I was 6, and I helped with chores at age 8 while Mom worked evenings in orthopedics. Nursing was my destiny, locked in when my high school guidance counselor told me, 'You'll never make it as a nurse.' Inspiration equals determination. I never looked back."
